Kappa FuturFestival – 2016 Final Report

By August 9, 2016March 31st, 2021Business Performance

2016’s Kappa FuturFestival was another resounding success, as the post festival breakdown reveals. In all this year, 40, 000 people turned out, which was an 18% increase on last year, to dance to cutting edge techno sounds in the heart of Turin, Italy. This proves it is the most loved party of its type and this year was granted the Patronage of the European Commission: a first ever such award for this kind of event.
Over the two days of the Festival there was a 20% increase in the number of foreign guests who enjoyed three stages and 40 performing artists, seven of whom were women and 15 Italian. Sets from the likes of Nina Kraviz and Ben Klock, the Kings of House (aka Louie Vega, David Morales and Tony Humphries) Kerri Chandler, French trio Apollonia, Marco Carola and Ricardo Villalobos all went down a storm with the crowd.
All of this can be seen by watching the brilliant aftermovie that shines a great light on the crowd, great production, top sound quality and inclusiveness of this superb techno gathering.
Innovative as ever, Kappa Futur’s use of cashless technology, a digitalised system for economic transaction at the Festival, guaranteed improved accounting and an extraordinary interaction between sponsors and the general public. Using a card that they can top up by cash or credit card, customers paid for all consumables at the Festival.
KFF has further strengthened the tight bonds with the local area through collaboration with regional suppliers, employing about 600 people and collaborating with local tour operators. KFF also collaborated with the Municipality of Turin and the local Islamic Community to organise a celebration of the End of Ramandan that took place at Parco Dora 72 hours before the Festival. The overall estimated outcome on the local economy was around 8 millions euros and with an environmental conscious, over 41.000 plastic bottles and glasses have been recycled. This year saw also the participation of five study-group from Turin design institute IAAD and two internationally renowned street artists, Luciano Antonino and Paolo Jins© Gillone.
