This year’s 8th Kappa FuturFestival took place on July 6/7 in Torino, Italy, with a record attendance of over 50, 000 tickets sold, selling out on both days. The two-day event brought together thousands of passionate techno and house lovers from all over the world, with the festival reaching their target of 100 different nations attending, proving they are a truly international festival. The festival saw killer sets from 44 of the world’s best DJs, with highlights including Amelie Lens; Boys Noize; Carl Cox, Derrick May; Nic Fanciulli, Nina Kraviz; Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler and Ricardo Villalobos, plus lots more – a true who’s who in electronic music.
Taking place in the avant-garde setting of HEART Ibiza, known for its fantastic fusion of art, entertainment and music, the DJ Awards 22nd edition bought the emotions to a high, bringing together the movers and shakers of the international electronic music scene, as well as honouring up-and-coming talent and turntable legends. 24 awards were handed out across 14 categories that boasted 120 nominees, celebrating those who have made their mark on the electronic music industry over the past year.
Other winners on the night included: Carl Cox who took home International DJ. Bass was presented to Chase & Status. DJ and Live artist, Stephan Bodzin picked up for the second year in a row for Electronic Live Performer with Melodic House & Techno going to Maceo Plex. Charlotte de Witte received Techno and Maya Jane Coles won Deep House. ARTBAT collected the Breakthrough award in association with Beatport. Kerri Chandler received the award for House. Progressive House went for the second year running to Hernan Cattaneo.
With Kappa FuturFestival taking best International Festival, in collaboration with FAZE Mag, other industry awards went to Ibiza Music Event, Record Label of the Year went to Hot Creations. Dance Nation went to Israel, and Chilean DJ Francisco Allendes received the award for Ibiza DJ. The Outstanding Contribution award went to Defected Records, Simon Dunmore.
Kappa FuturFestival returns to Parco Dora – Torino on 4-5 July 2020.
